Your comfort level is a sum of many parts. The way your body physically reacts to the surface may it be in the way it feels, how the temperature of your body is regulated, or the way you fall into a deep sleep. All of these factors and more determine your comfort level.
The
natural fibers in an organic mattress determine how you and your family can get the best sleep possible. Here you will find answers to different ways of creating your ideal sleeping surface. |

How will an organic mattress support my body?
|
|
When choosing any type of mattress there are three important points of contact between your body and the mattress to keep in mind.
Your hips, shoulders and spine will be what determines the type of support system you will need in a mattress. The organic mattress in combination with our personal mattress fittings will provide you with a unique type of support system.
The natural latex material conforms to your body, we like to say it "pushes back", meaning that the all natural latex core finds a happy medium between your body type and the proper spine alignment you need in order to give you the best nights sleep you can imagine.
The image you see compares a traditional spring mattress and memory foam to a natural latex mattress. It shows that when laying on a latex surface you relieve the most pressure (the red) off of your hips and shoulders and therefor create the proper alignment in your spine. Resulting in the best nights sleep you can find! |

How firm or soft should my mattress be?
|
|
Depending on your body type and your perception of what is firm or soft will determine how we will help you find the right mattress. Here are some points to ask yourself when searching.
What is my preferred sleeping position? Side sleeper, back and stomach sleeper, or both?
Side Sleepers Generally side sleepers will migrate towards a softer mattress. This type of mattress will fill in the curves of the hips and neck. The more give a mattress has, the better it will be able to fill in the the natural curve of the body.
Back and Stomach These type of sleepers migrate towards a firmer mattress. Those who sleep in these positions have more even distribution of weight when sleeping. A firm mattress will help keep the heaviest parts of your body, the hips and shoulders, from sinking too far into the mattress.
All Position Sleeper When someone typically sleeps in all positions an organic mattress will help eliminate the tossing and turning by supporting your body in a comfortable way. A big reason one can not stay in a certain position is because their current mattress is not supporting the pressure bearing points of the body correctly. When the body tries to make up for an uncomfortable position it is in that is when the tossing and turning begins. Our goal is to help you find a mattress that fits the position you like to sleep in the most often, typically it is the position you start sleeping in at night.
How much weight is pushing down on the mattress? You may have already heard that side sleepers like soft and back sleepers like firm. But you may not have been made aware of the fact that the differences in weight between individuals on their hips and shoulders can determine a more unique comfort level. After finding the mattress you like best in your preferred sleeping position we can now narrow it down to the perfect amount of firmness by understanding how much weight is exerting on your hips and shoulders in that position.
Not all back sleepers can sleep on the same firmness and the same goes for side sleepers. On your side, the less weight you have on your hips and shoulders the more you can error on a softer mattress. This is because it takes more for your body to sink into the mattress. A lighter body will create less of an impact on the surface of the mattress and can lay on the plushest of plush while still maintaining proper spine alignment.
On your back the more weight you have in your hips and shoulders the more you can error on a firmer mattress. This is because you want to be sure not to sink too far into the mattress. The firmer the mattress the more density it holds to keep your body straight and even on the surface.
